Chief Servant

Rev. Natalie McClendon-Obie is a native of Indianapolis, Indiana, with family ties in the rolling hills of Arkansas. She is the only daughter of Rev. Joseph and Geraldine Maul and the eldest granddaughter of the late Rev. Arthor C. McClendon Sr., who founded and pastored Breeding Tabernacle CME Church for over 40 years.
 

Rev. Obie matriculated at the University of Indianapolis, receiving an associate degree in Legal Studies and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. Rev. McClendon-Obie also holds degrees from the Christian Theological Seminary in Indianapolis, Indiana, where she received the Martin Luther King Jr. Scholarship.

 

Rev. Obie was ordained an Elder in the Christian Methodist
Episcopal Church and later was extended the privilege of full connection in the itinerant ministry in her
denomination.


Rev. Obie has an impressive resume, and to add to her many experiences, accolades, and accomplishments, she founded the Breeding Bible Institute. The Institute is geared towards equipping people with the knowledge and understanding they need to do God’s work.

 

Rev. Obie also served as the Assistant Pastor at Breeding. In 2011, Pastor Obie received her first pastoral appointment to Lampkins Chapel in Louisville, Ky. She pastored there for eight years. In Aug 2019, she received her second pastoral appointment to Trinity CME Church in Indianapolis, Indiana. She is the first female pastor in the church’s 99-year history.
 

Rev. McClendon-Obie is the wife of Minister Frank Obie. Together, they have four children: Frank IV, Emerald Gabriella, Langston Ray, and Amethyst Olivia Noel. Rev. Obie states that she has committed herself to the work of Christ and has answered God’s call on her life to equip, nurture, and disciple God’s people. She embraces and affirms Matthew 28:19-20 as both her calling and commission.

  • Founder, Visionary, and Instructor Breeding Bible Institution (Continuation of the Late Rev. McClendon Sr. School for preachers)

  • Director of Christian Education – Breeding Tabernacle

  • Former Dir. of Christian Education for the Second Episcopal District of the Indiana/Ohio/Kentucky, Pennsylvania, and parts of Virginia District.

  • Served as Assistant Pastor at St. John’s Missionary Baptist Church Indianapolis

  • Served as Assistant Pastor at Phillips Temple CME Church Indianapolis

  • Associate Degree in Legal Studies at the University of Indianapolis

  • Bachelor in Political Science at the University of Indianapolis

  • Theological Degree from the Christian Theology Seminary
